2013 Leadership Conference

“Breaking Barriers Building Bridges” – Colorado Asian American Leadership Conference
Saturday, April 6, 2013
9AM to 3PM

Aurora Public Schools Professional Conference and Learning Center
15771 E. 1st Ave. Aurora, CO 80011

At the fourth annual Colorado Asian American Leadership Conference, NGV plan to facilitate young leaders (mostly high school students) to address the barriers that they face: bullying, stereotypes, identity issues, culture, and exclusion. We hope to provide workshops that will guide students to build bridges by providing resources in order to overcome these barriers, such as speaking to a counselor, advocating for others, self expression and furthering self-education in order to learn about different cultures, individuals and the issues teenagers face daily.

Our conference intends to educate participants on the reality of the issues that still occur in schools today and provide methods to overcome these issues. There are many barriers that stray Asian American and minority students from becoming leaders and taking action. Through identifying barriers and providing helpful resources, we hope to empower students and create a stronger mentality and confidence for Asian Americans and other minority groups.
